Product Description
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Oh, my goodness! I AM IN LOVE with this book! I find that it may even be my favorite book in competition with Looking for Alaska. I can't even write this review without literally hesitating to gush in my head at its awesomeness! I encourage you to pick it up, and you better! RUN! Like now and buy it!

Okay, now that's over, the main reason that this novel really rose above and beyond my expectations within dystopian novels is because it is the most realistic out of them. The divisions or factions of groups and people are divided through personality (which I agree with in the novel) because personalities cause destruction and turmoil. I can see our world dealing with this type of situation in the future if we don't succeed in blowing ourselves up before.

So it really reeled me in easily for Beatrice is a very relatable character and very opinionated that I don't find myself yelling at her through the pages. I really deemed this novel predictable, but I was so wrong in my initial thoughts that I was incredibly surprised as to how things turned out with Beatrice's choices.

I really love the process in which the different factions initiate the newbies, because it's very exciting and thrilling! I swear, goosebumps rose all over my arms whenever reading this novel and it most certainly isn't just because of Four.

However, what really made this book for me are the characters. I am really proud of Beatrice, because although she has her faults, she is strong and never whiny. She sucks it up and does whatever she needs to do, no questions asked. She takes the initiative which I really REALLY loved! And of course, Four, our love interest is amazing, charming, sexy, tough, and every great quality within a guy that a girl really wishes for. I'm really glad that I also got to know his story, because I really didn't expect much from him, but goodness gracious there were so many things about him that made my eyes pop out of its sockets (well, almost).

Roth's writing really amazed me, especially since she is really young. I aspire to be her and I'm just amazed at how well everything flowed. She did well with the pacing, wrote great descriptions, and breathed life into her characters! The foundation for a trilogy is really well set that I seriously cannot wait for Insurgent. The last seventy pages of Divergent was action filled that you can seriously feel the intensity dripping from the pages. I was literally feeling goosebumps all over my arm for the two hours I spent reading the last two hundred pages.

Lastly, I love how everything is well balanced. There was great action, but it didn't take over the whole entire book and the romance was paced well. It made sense and it was great and romantic and lovely! It wasn't overwhelming and it made me fall in love with Beatrice and Four's unique story!

GOD I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Read it! Go, run, run, run! Otherwise, I'll go punch you in the face.
